Pulitzer Prize and Grammy-Winning Work
The Seattle Symphony performs John Luther Adams' Pulitzer Prize-winning Become Ocean, a stunning work that makes a powerful statement about climate change. The piece was commissioned by the orchestra and won the 2015 Grammy Award for Best Classical Contemporary Composition.
The SSO also performs the California premiere of Adams' newest work, Become Desert; Sibelius' folk-infused Second Symphony and impressionistic tone poem The Oceanides; and a series of instrumental interludes from Britten's opera Peter Grimes.
Please note: Program A runs 1 hour 45 minutes including intermission, Program B runs 1 hour 40 minutes including intermission.
This project is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.
